Footballer jumps to death from 16-storey window to escape police questioning

A Duquesne University sophomore running back, Marquis Brown has jumped to his death from a 16th floor dormitory window, reports say.

He was reported to have jumped as he was being questioned by university police after an altercation at the Pittsburgh campus of the university.

The University President, Ken Gormley, wrote on the University Facebook saying “Brown jumped out of a 16th-floor window of Brottier Hall after campus police arrived in response to a reported disturbance.”

According to reports, Brown was in critical condition when he was taken around 10:30 p.m. to nearby Mercy Hospital. He was soon pronounced dead.

According to Pittsburgh Police in a statement to Duquesne campus newspaper, the university police were responding to an altercation on the 16th floor and questioning Brown when he jumped from the window.

Brown was a product of DeMatha Catholic High School in Washington, D.C., making his Duquesne debut against Lock Haven earlier this season.
