A former Minister of Sports and current Plateau State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Damishi Sango, has described President Muhammadu Buhari as a dictator, who has brought severe hunger by his policies.

According to Sango, Buhari has only continued the hunger and dictatorial rule he started in 1983 as military Head of State.

“Buhari is not a democrat, he jailed our parents during his rule as military head of state; I was a witness to that, our people suffered severe hunger, just as the hunger that is biting now,” Sango said.

The Plateau State PDP Chairman stated this on Tuesday at a press conference at the party secretariat in Jos. He added that most of the people who voted Mr Buhari in 2015 have been disappointed.

“Not many thought the first year of Muhammadu Buhari would look like this. The pump price of petrol at 145, per litre, the Naira at 380 to a dollar, not a single road tarred, the 2016 budget in baby step, no minister has received a tranche for work, salary backlog now a routine, herdsmen as killer squads, Biafra on the rampage, Niger Delta brigands reborn, the change mantra muted jobs,” he stated.

He described the leadership crisis rocking PDP at the national level as an internal crisis, which will soon be resolved soon.

Hon Sango was appointed Nigerian Minister of Sports in the first cabinet of President Olusegun Obasanjo, an office he held between June 1999 and January 2001.

He was also, a challenger to become the PDP governorship candidate for Plateau State in 1999 and 2007 and ran for Plateau State governor on the Alliance for Democracy (AD) platform in 2003.
