Former minister, husband whisked away by gunmen

The Minister of Environment under President Goodluck Jonathan, Laurencia Laraba Mallam and her husband Pius, have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

They were abducted on Monday along the Abuja-Kaduna road at about 7:00pm in Jere, Kagarko Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.

The former minister and her 73-year-old husband it was learnt ran into the hoodlums who blocked the Abuja Expressway while returning to Kaduna from Abuja.

According to a family source, the kidnappers have demanded a N10 million ransom for their release.
