Former NNPC boss Yakubu, Omokore arraigned

The EFCC Monday, arraigned the Chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited, Jide Omokore and a former Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Andrew Yakubu, on charges of money laundering.

According to a statement by the EFCC, Omokore and Yakubu were charged before Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako at the Federal High Court Abuja on a four-count of money laundering.

The EFCC statement listed other individuals and firms charged alongside Omokore and Yakubu as Victor Briggs, Abiye Membere, David Mbanefo, Atlantic Energy Brass Development Limited and Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Limited.

Both Yakubu and  Omokore have, however, been granted N50million bail.

Mr. Omokore and Mr. Yakubu were arraigned along with a co-owner of Atlantic Energy, Kola Aluko; Victor Briggs; Abiye Memnere; David Mbanefo; Atlantic Energy Brass Development Limited and Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Limited.

Giving the ruling, Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako, ordered the defendants to provide bail bonds of N50 million each, with one surety in like sum, who also have properties in Abuja and should depose to affidavit of means; while the defendants should submit their international passport or passports.

The court ordered that they should remain in the court premises until they fulfil their bail conditions.
