Four ‘killed’, three injured as Customs chases smugglers

At least four persons were feared killed and three others injured yesterday after Nigerian Customs Service (NIS) officers shot sporadically while chasing rice smugglers.

The incidents occurred at Moshalashi and Kola Bus stops at Alagbado and Ajegunle in Alakuko area of Lagos.

It was gathered that the Customs operatives, allegedly attached to the Federal Operations, suddenly started shooting sporadically into crowded areas.

The four persons, who were said to have been hit by stray bullets, were commercial motorcyclists.

Among them, The Nation gathered, was a 25-year-old man identified as Saheed, whose wife was said to be pregnant.
