Mbaka raises alarm over plans to assassinate Buhari

Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has claimed that it is former President Goodluck Jonathan and not President Muhammadu Buhari, that is the cause of the ravaging hunger in Nigeria.

The Enugu Catholic priest had last week, in a message which video went viral said that there is hunger everywhere.

He pointed at the present government as the cause, saying that if the government fails to address the hunger, Nigerians will vote against it in 2019.

Mbaka said in that video, “There is hunger everywhere. My job is to tell leaders the truth, the landlords are crying, the tenants are lamenting, sellers are crying, buyers are lamenting and there is hunger on the streets.

“I can’t keep quiet when things are going wrong. I am telling the President to look around him and know those who are advising him rightly and those who are telling him that there is no trouble. The President should know that there is trouble and if things continue like this, in the next election, nobody will vote for him.”

But Mbaka, in what seemed a u-turn at the weekend claimed instead that Jonathan and not Buhari was the cause of hunger in the land.

In a statement on Saturday entitled, “Fr. Mbaka’s assertion `There is hunger in Nigeria’: Not an attack on President Buhari”, the Reverend Father denied ever bashing Buhari for the country’s economic problems or the level of suffering in the country.

Mbaka’s spokesman, Maximus Ike Ugwuoke, in the statement on Saturday claimed that he had observed with keen concern the news making round that Mbaka attacked Buhari.

“The news headline is not only sensational but also a censorious media colouration and hype of the message of the cleric titled, ‘Bless and Be Blessed’ for whatever ends,” he said.

Ugwuoke stated that although Mbaka lamented the high level of hunger and suffering in the country, it was followed by another message entitled, “Mega Change of Conditions” where Mbaka blamed the administration of Jonathan and absolved Buhari of blames about the economy and hunger in the country.

Part of the new message says, “There is sword that is moving about in the country. People are dying like flies. The sword of Hunger is eating the land. And as I have told you, this is just the beginning. If anybody is telling you it is going to be well very soon that person is deceiving you.

“This is because many of us were among those that were alive during the years of the past government. The past PDP government was like the grasshoppers and locusts. The past government was a disaster to the land of Nigeria; the past government was cancer to this country. There is no need trying to cover their incalculable and iniquitous mess. If you don’t feel it now, you will feel it later.”

“Hunger is everywhere; the hunger was created before this new government came in. Buhari is not the maker of the hunger. The hunger was created during the Jonathan’s PDP administration but Buhari should abate the long procrastination, bureaucracy and slow methods in tackling it.”
