FRANCE: Macron condemns attack on prominent intellectual by "yellow vest" protesters

An anti-Semitic attack targeted at prominent philosopher by “yellow vest” protesters on the streets of Paris has been condemned by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Reports say the French intellectual Alain Finkielkraut was bombarded with insults and anti-Jewish taunts in the capital, and it took local police to protect him as some of the protesters got aggressive.

Reacting to the attack on Finkielkraut, French President Emmanuel Macron said it was an “absolute negation” of what made France great and would not be tolerated.

Reports say tens of thousands of protesters for the 14th week took part in anti-government protests on Saturday with police using tear gas to control the crowds.
