French cops arrest 2 suspects in connection with fatal stabbing in Marseille

Two men have been arrested by French cops in connection with a fatal stabbing attack on two women at the Saint-Charles train station in the southern city of Mareseille on October 1.

Reports say French cops investigating the incident which witnessed the killing of the knife-man identified as 29-year-old Tunisian Ahmed Hanachi, moments after the attack, arrested the two suspects aged 24 and 29, in Toulon, about 65km east of Marseille.

A judicial source, speaking on Wednesday of the arrests, said: “The 24-year-old man may have hosted the killer Ahmed Hanachi during one of his visits to Toulon.”

Hanachi’s family have been the focus of the investigation with cops arresting four of his siblings in the days following the attack with two freed while two others Anouar and Anis, await extradition after their arrests in Switzerland and Italy, respectively.
