Fuel scarcity: Man burnt to death inside his car

Tragedy struck at the Festac Town end of Lagos State when a 45-year-old man was burnt to death at C Close, when a keg of fuel he kept in his car caught fire.

The victim had driven his car home safely after buying the fuel from a gas station nearby but something however triggered the fire and the victim was unfortunately burnt to death.

Neighbours and members of the Lagos State Fire Service did everything they could to save the life of the victim but all efforts proved abortive as the victim was burnt to death.

Reports say no one could identify the victim until his relatives arrived the scene of the incident and although investigations are still ongoing men of the State Fire Service suspect the victim had a lighter or cigarette in the car.

“We met the fire raging and we were able to stop the spread. It was after we put out the fire that his family members showed up and we all started looking for him. When he could not be found, we searched the car and found his charred remains in the vehicle.” Director of the State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, said.
