FUEL SCARCITY: PENGASSAN backs down on planned strike

The planned strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has been called off.

The strike action which many Nigerians regarded as very selfish and uncalled for was to begin on Monday midnight.

But PENGASSAM National Public Relations Officer, Fortune Obi, in a statement on Monday evening in Lagos announced that the proposed plan has been suspended.

According to him, the union decided to suspend the strike sequel to the intervention of the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Sen Chris Ngige.

Following the sack of its members by NECONDE Oil Limited, PENGASSAN had threatened a strike action to register their anger over the sack.

But the Minister of Labour quickly intervened in the matter and pleaded with the union to shelve their plan action.
