The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Monday started a fresh move to create additional four emirates in the state.

The governor sent a fresh bill to the state House of Assembly for the creation of the emirates.

The development is coming amid the governor’s initial failure to create the emirate councils.

He had recently created four emirates with emirs, but a High Court in the state had a few days ago annulled the emirates on the grounds that the state House of Assembly failed to follow due process in creating them.

However, the State Executive Council (SEC) on Monday approved Emirate Council Bill 2019.

The bill provides for the establishment of additional Emirates in the state.

In a statement issued by the state Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, he said to “this end, the Council has, with this development, endorsed the establishment of four new emirates namely Rano, Gaya, Bichi and Karaye and forward the same to the state Assembly for necessary action.”

“Some of these emirates have even pre-dated Kano in ancient times, while the effort to revive them during the Second Republic was short-lived.”
