Ganduje threatens legal action against Wike over demolition of mosque

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has threatened legal action against the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike over the demolition of the Rainbow Town Central Mosque located in the Trans-Amadi Area, Port Harcourt.

Ganduje who issued the threat in a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar, noted that the demolition of the mosque was a sad story.

The Kano State governor who lambasted Wike, described the demolition of the mosque as “shocking” and vowed to take all necessary lawful action against the Rivers State Government.

According to the statement, Ganduje would institute “legal action against this demolition of the Mosque as well contest it with appropriate authorities for redress”

The statement further read, “We received this information with high degree of shock. And I am assuring the general public that, all necessary action against this demolition will be taken through appropriate authorities.”

Ganduje added; “As government, we have started touching appropriate quarters against the demolition. Kano State is known for peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians, we should, therefore, improve on that and remain calm and peaceful. People should live peacefully with one another.”

The statement issued by Ganduje comes 24-hours after a former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekerau, verbally attacked Wike describing the demolition of the mosque as unacceptable.
