German police in Duesseldorf arrest man who attacked 5 people with an axe

A man who attacked five people at Duesseldorf central train station in Germany with an axe on Thursday has been arrested by police.

According to German police spokesman investigation into whether more attackers had been involved in the incident were still ongoing.

“We are not using the words ‘rampage’ or ‘terror’,” the spokesman said. He added there was no serious threat of further attacks. The rail station remained shut down, he added.

Continuing, the spokesman said the suspected assailant who is understood to have mental problems had been taken into custody while one of those attacked was seriously injured.

Reports say anti-terror police swooped on the station at around 9 pm on Thursday when the attacker went on the loose.
