Nigeria’s democracy under threat —Buratai

Leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, must be apprehended either dead or alive, Nigeria Army told 2000 men it commissioned on Tuesday to hunt the Nigeria terrorist group’s commander.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, who had relocated to the troubled North Eastern part of the country, had 18 days ago ordered that Shekau must be captured dead or alive in 40days.

During the official launch of the more than 2,000 Special Forces with code name “MSTs”, mobile strike teams for the manhunt, Theatre Commander, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru re-issued the order to have Shekau captured dead or alive.

“These specially selected forces…and platform are to achieve the conduct of long range patrols and ambushes deep into the hinterland.
“All these are in an effort to ensure the success of Operation Lafiya Dole, thereby, enhancing our operational efficiency. As you look forward to being deployed, I want to remind you that, success in battle revolves around discipline, intelligence, self confidence, and ruthless determination to success.

“Always remember that, your outing is also a service to humanity and our great nation. Go, capture the bagger,” General Attahiru said while commissioning the strike team.

The official lunch of the manhunt for Shekau is coming just as Boko Haram on Monday night attacked two communities, Nyibango and Muduhu, both in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
