GHANA: 6 burnt to death in gas depot blast

Tragedy struck in the Ghanaian capital of Accra after an explosion at a fuel distribution site which burnt no less than six people to death and as much as 35 others injured, who mostly sufferred severe burns.

According to Billy Anaglate spokesman for the Ghana Fire Service, the sudden explosion at the state-owned GOIL site sent passersby and residents to flee for safety in large numbers while others were forcibly evacuated.

Following the incident which sent a giant fireball into the sky above the eastern part of Accra, several onlookers expressed anger that the government had not done more to prevent another fatal accident.

Ghana, a relatively new oil and gas producer, has suffered several recent accidents including an explosion in 2015 that killed around 100 people.
