Ghana threatens to sanction British Airways over bed bug on some of its airlines

British Airways (BA) could face sanctions from authorities in Ghana after the Aviation Minister Cecelia Dapaah of the former Gold Coast revealed that it could suspend its operations in the West African country.

The minister said Ghana could come down hard on British Airways, after reports of bed bugs on some of the airline’s flights into the country in recent times.

Reports say the development came to the open after a British newspaper reported this week that a BA flight to Accra was grounded at London’s Heathrow Airport for four hours, after the insects were found crawling on the seats.

However, the airline (which has a monopoly on direct flights between the UK and Ghana) has reacted to the claims via a statement saying such incidents were extremely rare, and a specialist team had taken immediate steps to resolve the issue.
