The next edition of the All Africa Games is coming to West Africa as Ghana has been granted the hosting rights of the 2023 games.

Ghana’ choice as the hosts of the 13th edition climaxed the just-concluded edition in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday.

It will be the first time Ghana will play host to African athletes in the continental showpiece.

The 2019 edition held in Rabat, Morocco came to an end on Sunday, with Team Ghana winning 13 medals – two golds, two silvers and nine bronzes – to finish 15th in the medal table.

For the Ghana championships, Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast are the three major Ghanaian cities likely to host.

Congo Brazzaville hosted the edition in 2015, becoming the second nation to stage it twice after Nigeria, who hosted in 1973 and 2003.

Reports claim that the 2023 edition will be unique as it serves as qualification routes for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
