GIG’s Chidi Ajaere makes list of 100 most influential Nigerians 2016

Chidi Ajaere, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The GIG Group was one of the famous picks on Monday when YNaija released its official list of 100 Most Influential People in Nigeria 2016.
Published annually, the compendium celebrates the elite club of Nigerians who, through their interventions across select fields of endeavour, are creating value and impacting the overall growth and development of the nation.

This year’s publication, classified into 12 categories, had Ajaere as the top pick in the Business segment. YNaija said of him, “Chidi has been able to drive the group into the modern age through rapid expansion, technologic inclusion and construction of modern, state of the art terminals in different parts of the country.”

Other prominent Nigerians who made the Business category list are Akin Alabi, Aliko Dangote, Chijioke and Ngozi Dozie, Leo Stan Ekeh, Tony Elumelu, and Mary Remmy Njoku.

The GIG group, headed by Ajaere, is an emerging conglomerate with vast interests in key sectors of Nigeria’s economy namely road transportation, logistics, oil and gas, power generation, real estate and media.

Perhaps, its best known export is GIGM.com, (God is Good Motors), adjudged by industry intelligence as the most admired and number one road transport company in Nigeria.

In 2015, Chidi Ajaere also got nominated in the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY) Awards.

Speaking on the YNaija listing, Ajaere said, “We are, indeed, honoured and encouraged by these recognitions. Our eyes are set on returning best value to our partners, stakeholders and the environment.”

“We will continue to invest in the youths and technology because we recognize that is the future,” he added.
