Goal fest as Arsenal add to Everton's woes

In a seven-goal thriller, Arsenal recorded their first Premier League away this season as they beat Everton at Goodison Park to send them into the relegation zone.

Goals by Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey took the Gunners 4-1 ahead of the hosts after Wayne Rooney opened the scoring in the 12th minute.

But Oumar Niasse pulled one back on 93 minutes, before Alexis Sanchez made the scoreline 5-2 two minutes after.

Everton’s Idrissa Gueye was sent off for a second yellow card as the defeat left Ronald Koeman’s side without a win in five games in all competitions.

The result took Arsene Wenger’s side to fifth on the log and Everton on 18th in the relegation zone.

“After Wayne Rooney’s goal, I thought 17 years later we are here again,” Wenger said after the game.

“I was [concerned] because recently we’ve been punished for every mistake we make away from home. But I knew there was a long time to go.”

When asked about his future at Everton, Koeman said, “I don’t know, I told the players I believe in them, in their commitment. The decision is not in my hands.”
