Golden Eaglets beat Ghana to emerge WAFU B winners, qualify for AFCON
Nigeria men’s U-17 football team, Golden Eaglets defeated their Ghanaian counterparts 3-1 on penalties to win the WAFU cup and qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania.
The Nigerian tennagers booked their spot in the continental competition after sealing victory in the final of the regional qualifying tournament at the Seyni Kountche Stadium Niamey on Saturday night.
The Black Starlets, having dominated the first half, took a well deserved lead in the 54th minute, but Nigeria equalised few minutes later through Akinkunmi Amoo.

The game ended 1-1 at full time, and went into penalty shootout, as the Eaglets triumphed 3-1 as they netted three kicks and lost one, while Ghana converted only one of their four kicks.
Nigeria will now join seven other teams to battle for four World Cup slots at the 2019 U-17 AFCON tournament in Tanzania.
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is billed to take place between May 12th to 26th, 2019.
