Golf: Adekoya emerges Nigeria Cup Champion

The 20th in the series of the famous Nigeria Cup, a tournament put in place to celebrate the nation’s Independence anniversary came to a thrilling end at the golf section of Ikoyi club 1938 with Segun Adekoya emerging the tournament overall winner.

To come top in the keenly contested competition, Adekoya netted a score of 70, to win the competition by One-shot over Niyi Latinwo who shot 71-net.

With his effort Adekoya now replaces, Andrerw Odiri, the tournament defending champion on the Nigeria Cup winner’s chart.

Speaking shortly after being given his trophy, Adekoya said his calm disposition toward the game earned him the victory.

Playing off handicap 13, Ubong Akpan, grossed 85 score for 72-net score to come in the third position while Uwem Udoh’s 73-net score placed him in the fourth position.
Olu Ojutalayo completed the top–five in the net category after 74-net score.

In the Gross category, Godfrey Oboh stole the show with a score of 80 while former Nigeria Cup champion, Tim Ayonmike playing off a handicap of 3, grossed 80 but lots on countback to Oboh.

Esosa Austin Ojomo with a gross score of 83 came third in the event while Frank Momoh came in the fourth position.
