Gombe gov condemns sacking of woman who criticised Buhari, Osinbajo

The governor of Gombe State Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has condemned the sacking of a Nigerian woman identified as Bolouere Opukiri who was given the boot after she allegedly criticised Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha, on Twitter.

Reacting on his Twitter page to the sacking of Ms Opukiri, who until now worked in the media unit of the presidential amnesty office before she was shown the way out, Governor Dankwambo said no Nigerian should lose their job on account of criticizing the government they elected.

He wrote; “I condemn in its entirety, the dismissal of this young lady, Bolouere for criticizing President Buhari & his Vice, Prof. Osinbajo. No Nigerian should lose their job on account of criticizing the government they elected. I am appealing to @MBuhari to urgently look into the matter.”

Reports say Opukiri had on July 5th 2017, tweeted that the then acting president Osinbajo is ‘a novice’ for travelling out of the country at a time President Buhari was receiving medical treatment in London and tension was flaring between the executive and the legislature.

In another post five days after her post last year, Ms Opukiri threw a shade at Mrs Buhari for tweeting about some ‘hyenas’ and ‘jackals’ within her husband’s inner circle, suggesting that Mrs Buhari might not be as ‘classy’ as former first lady, Patience Jonathan.

The two tweets and other similar rants against Buhari’s administration and some other figures were subsequently chronicled by some vindictive pro-government officials who sent them to the presidency and she was afterwards dismissed from service after it was investigated.
