Google honuors Christ Essien Igbokwe on her 58th posthumous birthday

Social media giant Google has taken out time to honour late Nigerian musician Christy Essien-Igbokwe on her 58th posthumous birthday.

The search engine giant is marking the birthday of the once popular songstress referred to as Nigeria’s Lady of Songs when she held sway in the 80’s, with a Google Doodle.

For those who do not know, a Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepage that is intended to celebrate holidays, events, achievements and people.

The late singer who is famous for her hit song, “Seun Rere” died on 30 June, 2011 at the age of 50.
She was the first female president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) and managing director of Soul Train Entertainment Limited.
