Gov Ayade locks out SSG, other govt officials for lateness to work

Concerned by the inability of some government officials to resume work at the appropriate time, Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade on Wednesday denied the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tina Agbor and some others entrance to the government house.

The governor after arriving office before 7.30am was said to have instructed that the gate be locked while he monitored activities at the gate with the CCTV device from his office.

However, while his deputy, Prof. Ivara Esu who came at about 8am was allowed entrance, Agbor and some civil servants who came late were locked out.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita, was among the few political appointees who were not locked out having resumed work as at 8am.

Security operatives in the governor’s convoy were reportedly used to lock out security aides and other appointees who came in late to office.

The late comers were meant to stay out till around 9:am when the gate was eventually opened for them to come in.

Recall that the Cross Rivers State governor had also in June 2015, locked out workers who came after 8am, from entering their offices.
