GOV ELECTION: Okowa unmoved by FG’s determination, says I will emerge victoriously

Governor of Delta, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has expressed optimism he will emerge victorious in the governorship election in the state.

The governor stated this when he voted at Ward Unit 3, Owa-Oyibo in Ika North East Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, saying that he had worked for the people and was sure they will re-elect him as the state governor.

“By the grace of God, I will emerge victoriously; I have partnered with Deltans, I have worked with them, and by God’s grace, a lot of them will vote for me.

“The only thing we are doing is to ensure that those who planned to use thugs to disrupt the elections will be handled by the security agencies because, aside from plans to disrupt the elections, it would be a no contest situation,” he said.

He expressed satisfaction with the conduct of elections in the state and commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a job well done.

“So far, the electoral process is peaceful, and we pray to God that it remains peaceful; people are coming out in their large numbers to cast their votes.

“A lot of votes have been cast already despite the fact that it is still very early in the day; we hope that the voting process remains peaceful across the state,” he said.

Okowa wants to continue as the governor of the state under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His seeming confidence is inspite of a determination by the Federal government under the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure its candidate, Great Ogboru emerges victorious in the election.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had recently assured supporters of the party at a parley in Warri, Delta State that government will provide adequate security in the state to forestall any planned rigging, or violence in today’s election.
