GOV GANDUJE Vs SANUSI: Assembly moves in, probes Emir for alleged misuse of funds

The crisis between Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State and the Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi has attracted the state’s House of Assembly.

The lawmakers have begun to scrutinize the activities of the Emir, and on Wednesday set up an eight-man committee to investigate allegations against the traditional ruler, and report back to it within two weeks.

The committee is headed by the member representing Warawa Local Government, Alhaji Labaran Abdul.

Sanusi is accused of misappropriation of funds belonging to the emirate council, undue criticisms of the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and the policies of the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government, as well as sending his daughter to represent him at an official event.

The matter was brought before the House by Alhaji Ibrahim Gama, member representing Nasarawa Local Government Area, under a motion of urgent public importance.

Gama, expressed reservations over a recent comment credited to Sanusi, in which he talked of the proposed Kano light rail project to be executed by the Governor Ganduje-led administration.

Gama, who is chairman of the House Committee on Works, said, “The statement from the emir is capable of not only tarnishing his image, but that of the state government and the Assembly.

“During his speech in Kaduna, the monarch alleged that the Kano State governor and his entourage, including me as the Chairman of the House Committee on Works, wasted one month in China, seeking loan to construct a rail project.

“The emir’s statement was false. We spent only four days in China and our visit was to find out the capability of the company to handle the rail project.

“His allegation has caused a lot of insult to me, the state government, as well as the House of Assembly by the general public – in and outside the state.”

He also drew the attention of the House to a time Sanusi sent his daughter to represent him at a function organised by the #BringBackOurGirls group in Abuja.

He said such a move is inimical to the tradition of the emirate council, as there are emirate officials more qualified for such a representation.

Gama further decried the mode of dressing of Sanusi’s daughter to the said event which he said, was an embarrassment to the emirate council and the tradition of Kano people, and did not present the emirate in good light.

“There are many responsible emirate council members who can represent him at the programme. This is the first time we are seeing such in the historical traditional home,” he stated.

Also, he accused Sanusi of introducing religious issues contrary to the teachings of Islam, stressing that such an action was capable of disgracing the religion.

At that end of the debate, the Speaker, Alhaji Kabiru Rurum, constituted the committee to look into the allegations and report back to the Assembyl within two weeks.

In a related development, the Arewa Consultative Forum, on Wednesday, issued a communique calling on Sanusi and Ganduje to amicably settle their differences.

The forum which made the call at the end of a meeting of its Board of Trustees and the National Executive Council in Kaduna, noted, that the crisis between the monarch and the government could affect the fragile unity in the region.

The group’s National Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim, in a communiqué after the meeting which lasted several hours, noted with delight that northern governors had waded into the crisis.

The communiqué read, “The attention of the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum has been drawn to the simmering crisis between the Kano State Government and the Kano Emirate Council.

“However, the ACF is aware of the peace initiative brokered by the Northern States’ Governors Forum in Kaduna and hope that the decisions taken would continue to be respected in the interest of peace and stability of the North and Nigeria in general”.

I honestly don’t expect the senate to support Sanusi for any reason, he’s too vocal and always against the state and federal government. If care isn’t taken, he’d be removed as the Emir

Sanusi needs to be sanctioned honestly, he has brought too much shame to the Emirate council and other traditional rulers, what’s his own with government? He should learn to keep his mouth shut, he’s. Traditional ruler, not government official

Sanusi is an exposed emir and has in one way serve in the government as the exalted Governor of the Central Bank, so politics is now in his blood, that he won’t get involved in political talk is utopian.

Sanusi is the only leader who likes the northerners, what has the governor done to promote peace and unity since he emerged the governor? The truth is bitter and very painful, Sanusi has forced all of them out of their comfort zones to start acting with conscience, if he had kept quiet, the north will not never bearable for outsiders

You are saying thrash, Sanusi has been causing problems with his speech since he assumed the emirship of a thing and yet his budget alone is greater than some states in Nigeria.

That’s because he has a lot to cater for, you know all animals in the state are his responsibility and he needs big share of the budget to nourish them.

The day the idiot emir asked the daughter to represent him at that BBOG stuff, I wonder what the heck he is trying to showcase, simply all other members of the emirates are useless
