Gov Ikpeazu sacks 21 commissioners, retains 6

Ahead of the May 29 inauguration, Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has dissolved the state executive council.

He however retained six of the commissioners out of the 27 in the state, his Chief Press Secretary, Enyinnaya Appolos, said on Wednesday.

The six retained commissioners include Eziuche Ubani, Commissioner for Works; John Okiyi-Kalu, Commissioner for Information; Aham Uko, Commissioner for Environment; Obinna Oriaku, Commissioner for Finance; John Ahukannah, Commissioner for Health; and Umeh Kalu, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

The governor, who appreciated the members of the dissolved executive council for their service to the state, directed them to hand over state government property in their possession to the permanent secretaries of their various ministries.

Ikpeazu is among state governors who got re-election during the March 9, 2019 governorship elections and would be sworn-into office for a second term on May 29.
