Gov Makinde recovers from COVID-19, tests negative for 2nd time

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has recovered from the novel coronavirus infection after recently testing positive to the dreaded disease.

The governor had on March 30, made public on social media that he had tested positive to COVID-19. He had then said not minding the fact that he was asymptomatic that he would continue to self-isolate. The governor since then had remained in self-isolation.

But, in a statement on his Twitter handle–@seyiamakinde late Sunday night, the governor announced with joy that he had tested negative to the virus for the second time.

“I am deeply moved by your prayers and support throughout this period. I am so thankful. This evening, I received my second negative test result for COVID-19. I especially thank Prof Temitope Alonge, who acted in my stead as Head of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force,” he wrote.

Aside Makinde, the governor of Bauchi and Kaduna states, Bala Mohammed and Nasir El-Rufai are other Nigerian governors that have been infected with the coronavirus pandemic.
