The governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom and his Deputy, Engineer Benson Abounu have tested negative to the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.

The state Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, David Olofu also tested negative.

The governor who got his test result on Friday, called on the people of the state to willingly go for the COVID-19 test.

The governor applauded the State Action Committee on Coronavirus. He equally commended other individuals and organizations, for their selfless contributions towards ending the spread of the virus in Benue.

The governor called on the people of the state to take their personal hygiene seriously through frequently hand washing with soap, use of sanitizers as well as making sure they maintain social distancing to avoid contracting coronavirus.

He assured of his government’s commitment to contain the spread of the pandemic in the state.

Benue has only one confirmed COVID-19 case so far and the patient had been transferred to an isolation centre in Abuja for treatment.
