Tension in Imo State following last Saturday’s governorship election has continued to heighten by the hour.

This is expecially as indiscriminate gunshots rented the air around the state Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) office in Owerri, the state capital.

The development is said to have created fears at the collation centre.

What at the moment is not certain is the people shooting, as it was not yet clear as at the time this report was filed, whether it was security operatives firing the gunshots or hoodlums.

Meanwhile INEC’s returning officer for the state, Francis Otunta, has ordered the arrest of Kelechi Thankgod, the collation officer of Ohaji Egbema local government area.

He gave the order over claims that Mr. Thankgod was altering the results of the LGA.

Otuana, who said he had the results from the field, announced that the figures Thankgod presented were doctored.
