Gov Shettima wins Borno Senatorial election

Shettima angry, orders police, DSS to fish out 'thieves' diverting IDP's rice

The governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been announced as the winner of the Borno Central Senatorial District election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Prof. Yusuf Yusuf, Returning Officer, who made the declaration on Tuesday in Maiduguri said that Shettima scored 342,898 votes while his opponent Abba Aji of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gained 75,506 votes.

Meanwhile, Abdulkadir Rahis of the All Progressive Congress, APC, and Caretaker Chairman of Maiduguri Metropolitan council has become the winner in the Maiduguri Federal Constituency election.

Prof. Aminu Ayuba, the Returning Officer declared that Rahis gained 93, 497 votes to overthrow Abdulsalam Kachalla of PDP, who polled 60, 132 votes.

Borno Central Senatorial District consist of eight local government areas, including Maiduguri, Jere, Konduga, Bama, Mafa, Dikwa, Ngala and Kala Balge.

Shettima will be replacing Senator Babakaka Bashir also of the APC.
