Gov Yari has sidelined me, my office is no longer funded- Zamfara Deputy Governor

According to the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, the relationship between him and his Governor, Abdul’Aziz Yari, has gone sour after he (Wakkala) indicated interest to contest the governorship seat in the state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ).

Wakkala lamented his ordeal to newsmen in Gusau on Sunday, saying that the state government had also suspended the benefits of his supporting staff.

The deputy governor also explains that he had been made to suffer this humiliation because he was a member of the G8.

“This attitude against me started since I indicated interest to run for the governorship of the state on the platform of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“If my crime is my declaration, then what about my supporting staff made up of casual staff, feeding of security personnel, fueling and services of vehicles attached to my office, what have they done to have their allowances stopped.

“The state Commissioner of Information told a journalist that I am treated this way because I belong to the G8 group.

“My concern at the moment, however, is to see that Zamfara is free from all these security challenges where the killings, kidnappings and animal rustling have taken charge.”

When contacted on the development, Governor Yari told journalists that he was much more interested in discussing the security challenges being faced by the state while Wakkala’s matter could be discussed when political discussion was raised.
