The number of people suffering from the dreaded coronavirus disease in Nigeria has now risen to 36, the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire confirmed on Monday.

He stated this when he gave an update on the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria during a press briefing in Abuja.

The minister said that of the 36 confirmed cases, 26 were people who had travel history with countries with high risk of coronavirus, adding that six contracted the disease from the travel cases while four got the dreaded virus from sources yet to be confirmed.

The minister also said that 32 of the confirmed cases were clinically stable while one is on oxygen.

“We are focusing on containing the disease and preparing for it. We hope we don’t get too many cases. This is an imported disease” he said, adding that the fight to contain COVID-19 is a call for collective action.
