The volatile Burundi capital of Bujumbura was the scene of another deadly occurrence when a grenade attack ripped through a local bar killing four people in the process.
According to Burundi officials, the attack injured 10 other people who escaped with wounds but a child selling boiled eggs was not so lucky as he was among the four persons who reportedly lost their lives.

In a separate incident, an army and police patrol were also attacked in Bujumbura when unknown assailants threw grenades at them wounding several people.
Bujumbura has witnessed a string of deadly attacks in recent times which was mainly sparked by President Pierre Nkurunziza’s bid for a third term and subsequently a disputed poll he won in July.

Reports say more than 400 people have died in clashes triggered by Nkurunziza’s stance since April as he has also refused AU’s persuasion of a proposed deployment of peacekeepers which the Burundi president says would amount to an invasion.
