A group jas demanded compensation for the nursing mother assaulted by the senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Ishaku Abbo.

The group, Intellectual Patriotic Youth Network (IPYN-IRG) in a statement issued on Wednesday described as uncivil, the conduct of Senator Abbo after a viral video footage showed the lawmaker slap the nursing mother severally at an adult toy shop in Abuja.

In a statement issued by its national coordinator, Ambassador Salaudeen A. Lukman, the group demanded that Senator Abbo compensate the victim within 72-hours or face mass action in demand for his indefinite suspension from the National Assembly.

“The Intellectual Revolution Group has been on top of the campaign for youth inclusion in governance and a proud supporter of #NotTooYoungToRunBill that birthed Abbo’s emergence as a Senator. So, being one of the pioneer beneficiaries, misbehaving in public because he has joined the power brokers is not only heartbroken but very depressing,” it said.

Meanwhile, Senator Abbo, has apologised to Nigerians, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and women in general, for assaulting the nursing mother.

He gave the apology at a press conference at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headquarters in Abuja.

Senator Abbo wept as he asked for forgiveness from mothers, Nigerians, his party, the National Assembly, his family, the victim and her family, as well as all people who were embarrassed by his conduct.
