Group says Buhari blackmailing Jonathan to dent his profile

President Muhammadu Buhari has been accused of deliberately working to dent the reputation of former President Dr Goodluck Jonathan due to the latter’s growing international clout.

The group said the Nigerian Federal Government led by Buhari, is masterminding moves aimed at blackmailing his predecessor in order to dent his rising profile.

A group, Brotherhood Across the Niger (BAN), made this claim in an open letter signed by its division leaders in Nigeria, Northern Division Lead, Hassan Musa Abd’l ; Southern,  Ojugbo Clifford; Eastern, Igwechi Chukwuka; Western, Kunle Coker on Thursday, following the frozen account of former first lady, Patience Jonathan by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The group alleged that EFCC was yet to substantiate the allegations of money laundering, adding that Mrs Jonathan never claimed ownership of any $ 31 million and that “it is a clear fabrication by the EFCC and by extension the Federal Government of Nigeria to inspire an unwholesome campaign and media trial against her and by effect, her husband, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, who has been living a quiet and peaceful life since he conceded defeat to President Muhammadu Buhari.”
