Group wants lawmaker declared wanted, arrested over Bayelsa killings

A civil rights organization, Network for Peace and Development (NPD) has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the lawmaker representing Brass constituency 1 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Israel Sunny-Goli In connection to the recent killings and violent attacks in Twon-brass.

The NPD claimed that if Sunny-Goli is not arrested and made to face the law, the oil rich Brass Kingdom will not know peace.

The Coordinator of the NPD, Mr. Temple Igbikiri, in a statement accused the lawmaker of arming youths of Brass and recruiting cultists for political interests.

They therefore called on the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to declare him wanted.

The organisation further alleged that the lawmaker is a godson of Chief Timipre Sylva, a former governor of the state.

They also called on the state and federal government to increase the number of security personnel in Brass until peace is finally restored.
