Gunmen have beheaded a candidate for a traditional stool in the riverside town of Agbere, Sagbama local government area of Bayelsa State, Mr. Clement Hamo.

The deceased was abducted by unknown persons from his home on December 25 last year.

Hamo’s headless body was discovered on the River Forcados in Delta State on December 31, 2024.

Although the reason for killing has not been ascertained, residents told journalists on Thursday that it may not be unconnected with the vacant stool in the community.

The spokesman for the state police command, Musa Mohammed, confirmed the incident.

He said the command has commenced investigations into the killing.
