Gunmen assassinate lecturer
Gunmen yesterday assassinated a senior lecturer in the Department of Political Science, the University of Mkar, Mkar (UMM), Mr. Wilfred Aondosoo Tondo, in Benue State.
It was learnt that the assassins stormed Tondo’s residence about 4:30a.m. and headed straight to his living room where he and his family members were observing early morning devotion.
They shot the lecturer dead. Tondo, it was learnt, was also a chairmanship aspirant in Buruku Local Government Area of the state. The university’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Suemo Shagba, confirmed the incident.
Shagba said the lecturer was shot dead in his residence located in the university’s staff quarters. He said Tondo was immediately rushed to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital where doctors confirmed him dead.
