Suspected gunmen in police uniform, on Wednesday, kidnapped the wife of the Managing Director of Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Fidet Okhiria, in Benin, the Edo State capital.

It was gathered that the victim was trailed by the gunmen from the airport and abducted on the way to her house.

Meanwhile, the gunmen also shot a soldier in order to make away with the victim.

The state Police spokesperson Chidi Nwabuzor, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), while confirming the incident, said the shot soldier was an Army Sergeant attached to the woman.

He was taken to the military hospital for treatment.
