A Divisional Police Officer, DPO, a pregnant police woman and two policemen were on Monday killed by unknown gunmen when they invaded a police station in Agudama community in Yenagoa Local Government of Bayelsa State.
The gunmen, who attacked the station at about 2:15am also carted away rifles, ammunition and police uniforms from the station in the operation that lasted for close to one hour.
Sources in the community said no civilian was killed in the attack, adding that there were no detainees in the station as of the time of the attack.
“At dawn, we heard one policeman escaped, while another, who was shot on the leg survived the attack”, a source in the community said.
The corpses of the DPO and others were said to have been taken to the Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa by men of the Nigeria Police Force.
