Police in Ondo arrest four persons for kidnapping

Four Police operatives in Afuze Police Station were murdered by persons suspected to be gunmen on Tuesday in Edo state.

Those killed included a pregnant Police Sergeant along with the DPO, DCO and one other whose identity is undisclosed.

It was gathered that the late policewoman identified as Justina was recently transferred from Benin to Afuze, and was on duty at the Police Station when the hoodlums struck. They attacked the DPO’s office with dynamite while shooting other police operatives on duty.

According to unconfirmed sources, the gunmen, who were said to be heavily armed, broke into the cells and released everyone in custody.

The suspects also reportedly invaded INEC premises in Afuze, where they allegedly set a Police Hilux van ablaze.

When contacted by journalists, the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, stated that he was yet to return from election duty while the Police PRO, Chidi Nwabuzor, failed to respond to the incident.
