Hackers take over NSCDC website, carry out recruitment

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has cried out that its website has been hacked and warned that Nigerians should not involve themselves in the ongoing recruitment exercise purportedly being carried out by it.

This was made know in a release made available to newsmen by NSCDC spokesperson, Emmanuel Okeh, on Friday in Abuja.

Following NSCDC’s announcement in December 2016 that it plans to recruit 10,000 personnel to beef up its operations, subject to approval by the Federal Government, some mischievous fellow is said to have hacked into the corps website, demanding people to register for recruitment.

But Okeh, in the statement on Friday said that the corps Commandant-General, Abdullahi Muhammadu, is warning the general public to disregard rumours of recruitment or replacement by the NSCDC because there was no such “as widely speculated on the internet and various social media platforms.”

He cautioned, “Beware of 419 and fraudsters who have hacked into NSCDC’s website to dupe innocent and desperate job seekers online.’

Okeh went further to say that Nigerians should disregard the ongoing messages with religious colouration, maintaining it was efforts by mischief-makers to employ religion to rubbish the reputation of the NSCDC.

According to him, the corps will publish in various national dailies and electronic media the process to follow when it is time for recruitment.

So how long will take them to also begin the recruitment process? And out of the 10000 sef, they would have employed like 9000 secretly, then give 1000 to the favoured lucky chaps.

Nigerians are suffering from past damages done by previous administrations. Let us be optimistic about the recruitment and hope favoritism won’t be involved like it has always been by the previous administrations.

Nigeria is blessed with competence software and hardware engineers, but the government is too corrupt to employ competent hands to run its ICT affairs. Let them keep facing hijacks, it is a result of their selfishness.

“Beware of 419 and fraudsters who have hacked into NSCDC’s website to dupe innocent and desperate job seekers online,” this is a very shameful thing to say, the NSCDC website was hacked and the authorities couldn’t restore it before it became too noticeable. Nigeria needs to step up on her technologies
