Harvest of criminals in Edo as police parades 70 suspected robbers, cultists, kidnappers, murderers

The Edo State Police Command played host to different gangs of suspected criminals including 70 suspected armed robbers, cultists, kidnappers and murderers who were all paraded by the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu.

Also paraded were the suspected killers of Mr Lawrence Okojie, a reporter of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Benin-City.

Speaking on how the police has been able to curtail the activities of dare devil armed robbers who have been holding motorists hostage along the Benin-Lagos Road, the CP said intelligence-led-policing resulted in the arrest of suspected criminals.

Gwandu who revealed that all the suspects were arrested within two weeks also added that they have been partnering with traditional rulers and hunters among others in the battle against crime in the state.

He said; “You know kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, cultism are heinous crimes that attract severe punishment. But I thank Allah and the entire people of Edo for being with us, giving us information that we have been using to arrest criminals.

“That was how we have this harvest of suspected criminals. All the suspects were arrested within two weeks. Edo people are helping the police to burst crime. Police cannot do the job alone because we are not magicians, we rely on good information.”
