Herbalist lands in court for failing to cast spirits from client

Yusuf Afolabi, 40, appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court for failing to exorcise evil spirits from his disturbed client who reportedly paid the sum of N70, 000 to get the job done.

The middle-aged herbalist was dragged to court by Emenaka Anayo after he failed exorcise the evil spirits tormenting him.

The accused who appeared before Magistrate A. Oshodi-Makanju however pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge bordering on fraud, stealing and possession of fake currency.

While addressing the court, the prosecutor, Sergeant Kemi Adeniran, said the offence was committed between November and December 2016, at 12, Oba Oyefusi Street, Ikorodu, Lagos.

The prosecutor said the accused fraudulently collected over N70,000 from Anayo on the pretext that he would exorcise the evil spirits tormenting Anayo when he actually knew he could not do the job.

“He did not exorcise Anayo of the evil spirits after collecting over N70,000 from him and the accused, therefore, stole over N70,000 belonging to Anayo, and when arrested, he was while in possession of 53 fake American Dollars of different denominations. ” she told the magistrate.

Before adjourning the case to February 9, for mention, the magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
