Hold leaders accountable, Sultan tells Nigerians

Published

on

The Sultan of Sokoto Caliphate, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III has called on Nigerians to question their political leaders and hold them accountable for the underdevelopment in the land.

The Sultan spoke at an International Symposium on Sokoto Caliphate recently.

He attributed the slow pace of development in Nigeria to misplaced priorities by political leaders, and called on Nigerians to muster courage to question their political leaders on how they spend state resources.

He also called on the people to make input to policy issues that involve their well-being.

According to him, it is only when citizens began to ask questions that governors and other leaders would sit up and begin to take the people seriously.
