The Flying Eagles of Nigeria were beaten 2-0 by their Senegalese counterparts in the final of the 2018 U-20 WAFU Cup on Sunday.

It’s the second time in one week that Nigeria is losing to Senegal in the final of football competition, as the Nigerian Beach soccer team lost to the Teranga Lions at AFCON in Egypt.

The WAFU Cup final played at the Stade Municipal de Lome in Togo saw Senegal dominate.

Both sides played goalless in the first half as the Flying Eagles defence led by skipper of IkouEwen Udoh kept their rivals away.

Senegal finally went ahead when Sagna Amadou netted the opener two minutes into the second half.

The Eagles fought hard to find the equaliser but were unable to find a way past Senegal goalkeeper, Dialy Ndiaye.

Youssouph Badji then doubled the lead for Senegal in the 69th minute, and put the game beyond Nigeria.

For the third/fourth place playoff earlier on Sunday, Mali defeated hosts Niger 2-1 to claim third position in the competition.
