Soludo optimistic recession'll soon be over, wants multiple exchange rates scrapped

Anambra State’s All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday disclosed that it has removed the former Central Bank Governor (CBN) Prof Chukwuma Soludo and Mrs Uche Ekwunife among its governorship aspirants in the state.

While the party said it dropped Soludo due to his failure to register as an APC member in his ward, it claimed that it discovered that Mrs Ekwunife might not be interested in running for this year’s governorship election in the state.

The state chairman of the party, Mr. Emeka Ibe, made this disclosure to newsmen in Awka, the state capital on Wednesday.

“We just discovered that Prof Soludo has not registered as a member of our party in his ward. And you know the journey begins from the ward. He is a big friend of us and a big friend to the APC Federal Government but he must first register at his ward level before any other thing,” he said.

Concerning the case of Ekwunife, Ibe said, “We just discovered that she might not want to run for this year’s governorship in the state.”

He, however, said that Senator Andy Uba, Ifeanyi Uba, PDP 2013 governorship candidate in the state, Tony Nwoye; APC national auditor, Dr George Moghalu among several others are still in the list of party governorship aspirants.

Meanwhile, Prof Soludo was said to have earlier dissociated himself as a governorship aspirant under the platform of the APC, saying he was not a member of the party.

APC’s on-going re-registration exercise has raised interesting concerns with Chairman of APC Governors Forum, Rochas Okorocha, indicating that the party was repositioning to remove incumbent Governor Willie Obiano of APGA through popular vote in 2018.
