How Zone II police officers sold my properties, ruined my life – Army Captain

A retired Captain of Nigerian Army, Bernard Ize-Iyamu, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, to quickly intervene in his ordeal in the hand of some officers of Nigeria police at Zone II command in Lagos.

In an interview with Ripples Nigeria, Ize-Iyamu, who had served in the Army before his retirement alleged that the officers at the police command had sold most of his properties in Lagos in the name of ‘order from the Zone II AIG’.

Recounting his ordeal in the hand of the police officers, the retired Army Captain said trouble began for him in the hand of the alleged police officers when he reported an assassination attempt on him to the police at area F in Ikeja.

He said that the case was later transferred to Zone II command for investigation.

“When the matter was moved to Zone 2, one of my colleagues said he knew somebody in zone 2 where nobody will cheat me. That was how I went to Zone 2, and wrote a petition to them. But one officer called Bode Fakaye has since then been tormenting me with his people. Later I realized that he was working with my brother, Osazu Ize-Iyamu, to deny me of my belongings.

Speaking further, Ize-Iyamu mentioned the properties as follows; “The assets are the houses at 38, 40, 42, Abeokuta street, Ikeja, 110 Awolowo way Ikeja, 5, 75,77 Oregun, 238 Herbert Macaulay, 88 Old Otta road, two duplexes are there, Global garden, the company’s guest house in Abuja, 11 Towobola, Egbeda, building of two flats, 32 Ogunaike, off Alimosho road, Dopemu, back of Diamond bank, 117, 119 (That is the heart of the whole business, that is the company, Black and white enterprises), then about 20 plots of land at Opic, Mowe, is also there.

He stated that “Osasu, Bode Fakaye, Funsho Alabi, Jude Ngobili and Asemota, connived by using the word; ‘AIG Zone 2 said they should sell them’ and sold my properties.”

Narrating his ordeal further, he said “They paid one ASP Appolite N6 million to assassinate me when they were selling my property at 5 Oregun. They were exposed by one Mallam Hubert of bureau de Change in Allen who came to the house and started shouting “captain, they have paid police N6 million to assassinate you”. He came to tell me because they owed him money that they refuse to pay him. I and my wife had to run out straight to the police command.

Ize-Iyamu also narrated that “When I perceived they were planning to sell my property at 119 Abeokuta street, Ikeja, I moved to report to AIG Zone 2, but when I got there he was not around, I was told he went to Abuja, so I said I was going to Abuja to meet him there, but they stopped me from going to Abuja. Later, they came to my house and abducted me.

“They took me before Bode Fakaye and gave me a summary trial and sentenced me to death. Where they kept me for days, I fainted there. When they saw me, they threw me outside thinking I was dead. It was a Good Samaritan that carried me and dropped me at Police hospital at Falomo, and that was where I woke up.

I was in the hospital for four days; my wife was looking for me. A few days later, the Deputy Commission in charge of the’ clinic called me and asked where my wife is, and i said I don’t know where she is. Shortly, they came that my wife was waiting for me in their office; that they want to hand over me to her. That was how the woman released me. After this, they carried me to a courthouse in Igbosere and framed me up. But the Magistrate said they should release me to my wife immediately. After this, they dropped me in a cell in Zone 2. From there they took me to Ikoyi Prison. I was in Ikoyi prison for four days. The warders helped me to call my wife. They advised her to go and informed them at court and she ran to the Magistrate at Igbosere who instructed them to bring me out immediately.

Speaking on his last petition to the AIG, Capt Ize-Iyamu, said “The last petition I wrote to AIG Zone 2 recently on November 2 2018, with the whole petition I have written to all the police stations to investigate what Bode did they didn’t treat it.

Bode Fakeye and his people also came to my flat and rented it out. Zone 2 rented the apartment out and put padlock outside there and I told them you are joking with an Army officer. I told them president Buhari will hear this.

These people had tormented me enough, now they want to kill me. If they kill me it won’t be easy for them. That is why I’m calling Mr. President, Commander in Chief, the Ministry of Defense, Chief of Defense staff, Chief of Army Staff, and Directorate of Ministry Pension. If anything happens to me, they should hold Inspector General of Police through AIG Zone 2 responsible. They have already killed my wife. I am also called on the Police Service Commission, Independence Corrupt Practice Commission, EFCC, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Federation, to help me out.

Moreover, I appeal to the Lagos State High Court Judge on this case to speedy my case up because the more they delay, the more they have time to attack me, and they should recover my entire stolen asset for me that was stolen by Zone 2.

Meanwhile, ASP Bode Fakeye when contacted said there is a possibility that Captain Ize-Iyamu is suffering from a mental disability. “That man is possibly having mental challenges. I have not seen Ize-Iyamu for the past three years. What is my business with their properties? I have nothing to do with their family issue”.

Also reacting, Lawyer Jude Ngbobili, said, allegation levelled against him is far from the truth.

“I’m not a member of Ize-Iyamu family. So, what problem does he have with me?

I was a lawyer to his father for more than 15 years till the man died. After the man’s death, the first claim the Captain made was that all the properties of the man belong to him. So, you people should be careful of what he is telling you. It is a mental case. He is not mentally balanced. He has been going from one police station to the other in Lagos.

How can I sell his property? Is the property in my name? What he is saying is all false. It is a totally false allegation and to the best of my knowledge, all the properties he is claiming belongs to his late father and not his own, and the man has up to 10 children. So, how can one man come to claim that he owns the properties?

He is not the owner of any property; he doesn’t have one pin that belongs to him. It is the father that owns all the properties. The father is late but his mother is still alive. So, if you want to do a thorough investigation, go and meet the mother. It is the mother that will give you all the information about him, his mental state and the ownership of the properties.
