UNBELIEVABLE! No court order yet declaring Abdulrasheed Maina wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday, called its first witness to testify against the former Chairman of the defunct Presidential Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, who is facing trial over his alleged complicity in a N2billion fraud.

The EFCC arraigned Maina on a 12-count charge of money laundering alongside a firm, Common Input Property and Investment Limited.

When the case came up for hearing, the commission beckoned on a staff of the United Bank for Africa (UBA), Mrs. Mairo Mohammed, to enter the dock as its first witness.

Mohammed, who was led in evidence by the prosecution counsel, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, admitted before the court that she opened both Naira and Dollar accounts for the Maina.

She said: “Yes my Lord, his name is Abdulrasheed Maina. We have a bank-customer relationship, and also, he is a junior brother to my late husband.

“He is my brother-in-law, and I know the company called Common Input Property and Investment Ltd.

“I approached Maina when he was chairman Police Pension Task Force and solicited for deposit, and he gave the bank a deposit of N3billion in 2011, and the funds were moved to Treasury Single Account (TSA) with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) around 2012.

“In a bid to grow my deposit, I also approached Maina for more deposits and I opened about 12 accounts for him and his immediate family.”
